Basic Needs

EEF has a long-standing tradition of meeting student needs whatever they may be. It is essential to provide the basic resources necessary to keep students in school so they can focus on learning and engaging in school. Through individual grants and community support, EEF is able to provide Basic Needs supplies such as clothing, eye exams and glasses, shoes, bus passes, hygiene supplies, etc.

  • *NEW* HYGIENE PANTRY:

EEF partnered with Greater Tucson Leadership class of 2019 and St. Mark’s Presbyterian church to open a Hygiene Pantry to serve TUSD students and their families in order to remove some of the barriers that keep students out of school. This program will boost students’ confidence enabling them to better focus at school and will also remove the out of pocket expenses for the TUSD staff who have been purchasing these supplies.

Parents/Guardians: The pantry is only open to TUSD staff to supply the hygiene pantry at their school site. Please contact your school’s Community Representative or Nurse to access this program.

TUSD Staff: Please contact EEF for current Agreement/Order Forms.

  • FOCUS ON VISION

The Focus on Vision program is dedicated to helping students get the glasses they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond. At about 200 students receiving free eye exams and glasses each year, EEF has helped over 3,000 children from TUSD over the last twenty years. Through a partnership with Nationwide Vision we serve students of all ages in need of an eye exam and/or eyeglasses. If a student’s eyes/sight require further treatment, they are able to do so through our partnership with Dr. Sam E Sato, PC. By providing eye exams and eyeglasses, this program removes one of the greatest barriers to receiving an education for our community’s diverse children.

Parents/Guardians: Applications must be filled out by a parent or guardian but can only be accepted through a School Nurse or Community Representative. Please turn in your application to your student’s school.

TUSD Staff: Please ensure that the applications are completed before submitting the application. EEF may contact you with follow-up questions before approval.
